Milquetoast Mitt Romney might bore Republicans to death on his way to the Presidential nomination, but Occupiers are certainly fired up over the “1 Percent Candidate.”

Romney is attending a luncheon fundraiser at Manhattan’s swanky Waldorf-Astoria hotel and it hasn’t gone unnoticed. Expect huge protests on Park Avenue outside the 47-story Art Deco landmark. Romney’s visit marks the first of a series of “New York Spring” protests that Occupiers hope will help revive protests as the weather warms.

The demonstration is expected to have hundreds of attendees and will include street theater displays similar to the “Billionaires for Bush” protests in 2004. Demonstrators will gather outside the iconic  hotel at 11 am.  After the fundraiser, the assembled protesters will march on Madison Avenue.

Romney raises more money in New York than any other state.Nine out of ten of his top fundraising zip codes are in the New York City Metropolitan area, and many of those financial supporters work in the financial services industry. Notably, many top Romney fundraisers are hedge fund kings, which many economic analysts say are partly responsible for the economic collapse of 2008. It is expected that today’s fundraiser will be attended by a Who’s Who of Wall Street executives.
